Privacy Policy

Overview

QuickComps is a Chrome extension and web application that provides real-time pricing data for trading cards, with a current focus on Pokémon TCG. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, what we do not collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.

QuickComps is currently offered as a closed beta program.

Information We Collect

Information you provide:

  • Email address when signing up for an account or joining our waitlist
  • Password (stored securely and hashed by our authentication provider)
  • Card purchases you choose to log in your collection dashboard
  • Search queries you enter in the extension

Information collected automatically:

  • Card search queries, grades selected, and search results returned
  • Anonymous device identifier (used to distinguish internal testing from user activity)
  • Platform and session metadata (which platform you were using, search timestamps, session groupings)
  • Performance metrics (such as search latency) used for product quality monitoring

Information We Do NOT Collect

  • We do not store card images or screenshots. When you use a scan feature ("Scan Slab" or "Scan Raw"), the captured image is sent for identification, processed in real time, and immediately discarded. It is never written to disk, saved to cloud storage, or retained in any database.
  • We do not capture images automatically or in the background — only when you explicitly trigger a scan.
  • We do not record or monitor your general browsing history, or your activity on sites outside the supported platforms.
  • We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with third parties for marketing.
  • We do not use tracking or advertising cookies.

Account Registration and Authentication

Account registration is required to use the Services. We require a valid email address and a password, and you may be required to verify your email address before accessing the Services. Account authentication is handled by Clerk, a third-party authentication provider. We retain account information for as long as your account remains active and for a reasonable period thereafter as needed to fulfill legal, audit, or operational obligations.

How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Surface real-time comp data in response to your searches
  • Power your personal collection dashboard and track deal performance
  • Authenticate you and secure your account
  • Improve search accuracy and product quality
  • Analyze aggregate usage patterns to improve the product
  • Communicate with you about product updates if you've joined the waitlist
  • Operate, maintain, and support the Services

Screenshot Capture and Card Identification

When you use QuickComps, the extension captures a screenshot of the visible browser tab only when you click one of the scan buttons:

  • When you click the "Scan Slab" button to identify a graded card
  • When you click the "Scan Raw" button to identify an ungraded card on a live stream

No screenshot is captured for any other action, including text searches or "Pull Comps" lookups. Screenshots are not captured automatically and are not captured in the background — only when you explicitly click a scan button.

When a screenshot is captured, it is sent to a third-party AI service for the sole purpose of identifying the card. The image is processed in real time and immediately discarded. It is not stored on our servers, in our database, or in any cloud storage. Because images are discarded immediately after identification, any content incidentally visible in the capture (such as chat messages or usernames from a live stream) is not retained.

Page Content on Supported Platforms

In certain modes, the extension reads publicly visible information on supported listing or auction pages (such as item titles) to help identify the card you are viewing and fetch relevant comps. This information is read only while you are actively using the extension on a supported page, is used to provide the comp lookup, and is not used to track your browsing. The extension does not read page content on sites outside the supported platforms.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information to third parties.

When you search for a card, your search query (or a captured image for identification) is sent to third-party data providers to retrieve pricing and listing information, or to identify the card. These may include providers of historical sold-comp data, trading-card pricing data, active-listing search data, fallback data sources, and an AI service used to identify cards from images and parse card information from text. These providers process your query or image solely to return results. We do not share your email address, password, purchase history, or any other personal account information with these providers.

We may disclose your information if required by law, or where necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of QuickComps, our users, or others.

Data Storage and Security

Your account data and the data we retain (such as your email, hashed password, logged purchases, search queries, and comp results) are stored in our database hosted on Neon (a PostgreSQL cloud provider). Account authentication is handled by Clerk. Card images are never stored, as described above.

All data transmission between the extension, our servers, and our providers uses HTTPS encryption. We use industry-standard security practices to protect your information. However, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Cookies

QuickComps uses cookies only for session management and authentication. These are essential cookies required for the product to function. We do not use tracking cookies or advertising cookies.

Data Retention

  • Card images / screenshots: Not retained. Processed in real time and immediately discarded.
  • Account data (email, hashed password): Retained as long as your account is active and for a reasonable period thereafter as needed for legal, audit, or operational purposes.
  • Search queries, comp results, and usage metadata: Retained for service quality and product improvement for as long as reasonably necessary.
  • Logged purchases / collection data: Retained as long as your account is active or until you delete it.

You may request deletion of your personal account information at any time by contacting privacy@quickcomps.io. We will respond within 30 days, subject to any legal obligations we have to retain certain records.

Data Breach Notification

In the event of a data breach affecting your personal information, we will notify affected users without undue delay and consistent with applicable legal requirements. The notice will describe the nature of the breach, the information involved, and the steps we are taking in response.

Your Rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data at any time by contacting us at privacy@quickcomps.io. We will respond to all requests within 30 days. You may also uninstall the extension at any time, which removes its locally stored data from your browser.

California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and the California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), including the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to request correction or deletion of their personal information, and the right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights. EU/EEA and UK residents: If you are located in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), including the rights to access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability, objection to processing, and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Our legal basis for processing your personal data is your consent (when you create an account) and our legitimate interest in providing, securing, and improving the Services. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at privacy@quickcomps.io.

International Data Transfers

QuickComps is operated from the United States, and our service providers (including Clerk and Neon) process data in the United States. If you access the Services from outside the United States, you understand and consent that your information will be transferred to, stored, and processed in the United States, which may have data protection laws different from those in your country of residence.

Age Restriction

The Services are intended for users who are at least 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under the age of 18. If we become aware that we have collected personal information from a person under 18, we will take steps to delete it.

Beta Program

QuickComps is currently offered as a closed beta. During the beta, features may change, be added, or be removed, and we may collect additional usage and diagnostic data to evaluate and improve the Services. Data practices may evolve as the product develops; we will update this Privacy Policy and the "Last updated" date to reflect any material changes.

Independence

QuickComps is an independent service and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or otherwise partnered with Whatnot, eBay, or any other platform, marketplace, or trading card company. All trademarks and brand names belong to their respective owners.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this policy. Continued use of QuickComps after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
